Uppsala University is an international research university focused on the development of science and education. Our most important assets are all the individuals who with their curiosity and their dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting work places. Uppsala University has 40,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6,5 billion.
The analytical chemistry program at the Department of Chemistry, Uppsala University is focused on mass spectrometry, both for applications and method development. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who will be part of one of our project which focuses on developments and applications of nanospray desorption electrospray ionization (nano-DESI) mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging of small molecules, such as lipids and metabolites. Nano-DESI is a custom-built setup for ambient liquid extraction of molecules from surfaces and is typically coupled to a high resolving mass spectrometer for imaging of thin tissue sections. Our group focuses on developments of quantitative analysis and imaging as well as technical developments for higher throughput analyses and accurate identification of analytes. For more information visit our website. As a postdoctoral fellow you will be involved in collaborations with doctoral students and with researchers of different disciplines.
Qualifications: To be eligible to apply you must have a Ph.D., or an exam which is judged comparable to a Ph.D., that was completed within three years of the application deadline. If you received your PhD earlier but special circumstances, prolonged periods of illness, parental leave, military service, union duties and others of similar character, exist you are also eligible to apply.
The successful candidate is skilled in mass spectrometry, preferentially with electrospray ionization, and enjoys hands-on lab work. Skills in communication in English, both oral and written, are expected. Experience of small molecule analysis and identification as well as knowledge of mass spectrometry imaging, quantification and statistical data analysis is meriting.
We attach great importance to personal skills and are searching for a motivated candidate with high potential and ability to work independently. To be successful in collaborations we are looking for a result oriented team-player who has the ability to take initiative and work in a structured manner.
In this recruitment the university will primarily consider the candidate who, after an overall assessment, shows the best qualifications and personal characteristics to perform and develop the project tasks and contribute to a positive development of the group and its activities.
