We are really pleased to have Yohko Orito from Ehime University and Kiyoshi Murata from Meiji University as guests in the upcoming TUR ethics seminar. Their presentation will focus on ethics education at Japanese universities, and it will be an excellent way to explore commonalities and differences with the ways in which ethics education is done at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala
The talk consists of two parts: (1) the general situation surrounding ethics education at Japanese universities including the introduction of a mandatory online research ethics course, and (2) the speakers' attempt to develop learning materials for how university students can maintain their digital identities as a small first step forwards practical ethics education for university students.
About the TUR Ethics Seminar:
Welcome to TUR Ethics Seminar! The purpose of this seminar series is to inspire, provide knowledge, and develop the skills of teachers and pedagogical leaders interested in strengthening the ethical aspects of education within the Faculty of Science and Technology. We welcome both those who are experts in ethics in science and technology, those who have some experience, and those who would like to get introduced to the topic. We discuss issues such as why and how ethics can be introduced in our education. We discuss experience in ethics training that is already being conducted at the Faculty as well as at other institutions.
